Charlie David was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada on August 9, 1980 and raised in Yorkton. During high school, Charlie gained fame in Saskatchewan in the musical group Sask Express. His energetic and quirky stage presence made him a stage favourite. In 2000, he graduated from the Canadian College of Performing Arts at Victoria, British Columbia.
He then moved on to co-found the boy band group 4Now, which performed around Canada and the U.S. and opened for important acts (Destiny's Child, Black Eyed Peas, Pink). The band released two recordings to date and is currently on hiatus. 4Now was noted to be different from most boy bands of the periods because they played their own instruments; Charlie played piano. David moved to Los Angeles to do some modeling and TV work before returning to Vancouver.
Charlie later turned his attention to hosting and acting. He hosted for E! Television, NBC, OUTtv, here! TV, Pink TV, EGO, and Life Network on such shows as F.Y.E!, in 2002, SpyTV, in 2001, Bump!, in 2005-2006, and Crash Test Mommy in 2004-2005. He has been the subject of a documentary on the Learning Channel and has appeared as a musical guest on VH1, BBC, CBS's "The Early Show," and dozens of radio shows.
He was featured in mini-series Terminal City in 2005, and is currently shooting the movie A Four Letter Word, in post-production. His most famous role to date is probably that of Toby in Dante's Cove. He has also recently penned a screenplay, Mulligans. He co-owns Rubber Ducky Films, Ltd.
Dante’s Cove
Charlie David plays lead character Toby in the GLBT horror show Dante's Cove. The character is portrayed to be in a monogamous and loving relationship with the other character. He said in an interview, “What was attractive [about the role] was for me to portray a gay relationship, in which it’s not always a different guy every night. Many gays and lesbians do pursue—and have—loving relationships in which we are very committed to each other. I think that is what Toby brings to the show. He is kind of a voice of reason, and has a definite dedication to his boyfriend.”
